I have been a working actor and musician for twenty years or so. My work ranges from West End musicals (Fame, Woody Sez, Return To The Forbidden Planet) to touring plays (Up Beat, The Ballad of Martha Brown) and from feature film and television roles (The Legend of Halloween Jack, Close But No Cigar, Persona, Doctors) to indy shorts (The Age of Strange, The Prime Location, Avenue de Nullepart, Man Out of Time).. You can check me out on Imdb or Spotlight with just a couple of clicks I’m sure. You should talk to my lovely agent ZoĆ« Nathenson if you have me in mind for something (www.zoenathensonagency.com).
I was classically trained on the violin from a young age and gradually felt a pull to play and sing simultaneously. It’s an ongoing experiment, I’m still learning… still trying to figure out how best to make this work. Bashing rhythm on my fiddle into a loop pedal is new, it offers up the freedom to solo. I draw inspiration from country, folk, jazz, even classical fiddle traditions and feel I should namecheck some of the greats who accompany me down the road: Bob Wills, Marc O’Connor, Darrol Anger, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stephane Grapelli, Richard Greene, Stuff Smith… actually this list could be longer than my bio! I play guitar and bad spoons too sometimes.
In addition to the solo fiddle stuff and the acting, I also work with a band: Lester Clayton (www.lesterclayton.co.uk). They still put up with my crazy touring schedule and ever changing fiddle styles after all these years! We have music on iTunes and vids on YouTube- you know the score. Check out my production on Last Train To Silver Street. I love collaborating with other artists, I’m always up for learning a new tune. Feel free to get in touch if you have a project that needs that fiddle sugar sprinkle! Leave me a message if you have any comments at all, I’d love to hear from you.
